VERN EDWIN QUIMBY was born Feb. 9, 1930 at Ponca City, Okla. to George and Beaulah Quimby and passed away Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005 at the age of 75.

He was a resident of the Ames, Okla. community for 30 years where he was a truck driver for several different oil and gas companies such as, Hodges, Hensal and Brent Hajek Tank Service. He attended Ponca City Schools. Vern loved to work and truck driving. He loved to visit and tease his many friends.

He was married to Orpha Martin at Lipscomb, Texas on Oct. 4, 1986.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son: George Quimby, one daughter; Rowena Quimby, one brother; Leonard and one sister Shirley Jones.

He is survived by: three sons Doyle Quimby of Fritch, Texas, Gary Quimby of Hennessey, Okla. and Mark Quimby of Fritch, Texas; five daughters Becky Morris of Freedom, Okla., Carrie Wood of Fritch, Texas, Verna Green of Miami, Okla., Billie Badgett of Borger, Texas, and Ginger Ishmael of Vici, Okla.; one sister Vonda Hollingsworth of Ponca City, Okla.; fourteen step-children and nineteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, many step-grandchildren as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Vern Quimby will be held Friday, Aug. 26, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Ames, Okla. with Mr. John Sheffield officiating. Burial will follow in the Ames Cemetery in Ames with Wilkinson Mortuary of Okeene in charge of arrangements.
