Both Woodward High School soccer teams picked up victories against Western Heights on Tuesday night in a pair of 3-2 overtime games.

Woodward’s Jeff Riley was able to head the ball into the back of the net early in the second overtime period to break a 2-2 tie and give Woodward its thirteenth win of the season.

Troy Clark and Jacob VanDorn also scored goals for the Boomers, who have had a flair for the dramatic as of late

“We pulled another one out,” said head coach Robert Coleman of his team’s overtime victory.

The Woodward women experienced the same drama as the men on Tuesday, as junior Jessica Hamill picked up a hat trick in the 3-2 overtime victory.

“This was a big rebound game for us after the horrible showing in Weatherford,” said coach Tina Howard of her girl’s ability to bounce back from adversity.

Next up for the Woodward soccer teams is a road game with Duncan on Friday.

Remaining on the Boomers regular season schedule are games against Capitol Hill, Lawton Macarthur, and Chickasha.
