BUFFALO – Vici’s fourth-ranked girls overpowerd Buffalo 62-36 in the regional semifinals here Thursday night.

Vici advances to Saturday’s championship game in Vici against Garber or Kremlin-Hillsdale.

Johna Gregory had 21 points, Hannah Guthrie 13 and Chesney Watkins 12 for the Indians, who broke open the game by outscoring the Bison 24-10 in the fourth period.

Dayona Smith had 10 for Buffalo, which plays today in Vici.

In the boys game, Burlington, ranked ninth, defeated Vici 65-56 and moves on to Saturday’s game against Garber or Pond Creek-Hunter in Vici.

Garrett Butler scored 24 points and Ben Hudgens 23 for the Elks, who took the lead with a 21-10 advantage in the third quarter.

Vici got 13 points from Daniel Balderas and Trey James added 11.

The Indians play again today.

In elimination games at buffalo, the Aline-Cleo girls downed Burlington 42-28 and the Waynoka boys nipped Timberlake 56-50.

Waynoka got 27 points from Clark Bixler to hold off the Tigers, who cut a 14-point lead down to as few as two points late in the fourth quarter.

In the Area II tournament at Canute, the Leedey girls advanced to the regional final by beating Dover 70-44.

Paige Ward led Leedey with 20 points and Jordan Kauk scored 18. Jordan Vanderwork added 15.

Cheyenne’s boys also moved on, beating Oklahoma Christian Academy 65-57 as Pete Drouhard scored 28 points.

Leedey will face the Cyril girls Saturday for the regional championship.

Cheyenne’s boys will play Granite, an over time winner over CBA.

In an elimination game, the Leedey boys lost to Union City 76-66 and the Cheyenne girls beat OCA 53-48.
