The Travelers opened a busy weekend with an 8-6 victory over Oklahoma Baseball Academy at the new Fuller Park Friday.

Kevin Hajny came on in the 6th to get the Travelers out of trouble, then worked a perfect 7th inning for the save. Winning pitcher Shawn Hunter went 4.2 innings and Coleton Whitewater relieved during the 5th inning.

Woodward improved to 19-8.

After OBA took a 1-0 lead in the top of the 3rd inning, the Travelers scored 5 in the bottom half on a walk and 6 consecutive hits – all with 2 outs.

Tyler Williams drew a walk and Jake Barrios doubled, setting up Chris Faulkner, who delivered a 2-run single. Ryan Ainsworth followed with a 2-run homer.

Trevor Julian then singled and scored on a double by Jacoby Smith to make it 5-1. Braden Todd added the final hit in the inning.

Woodward stretched its lead to 8-1 in the third as Barrios blasted a 2-run homer and Ainsworth hit his second round-tripper of the game.

OBA tacked on a run in the 5th inning on a sacrifice fly by Tyler Mitchell, who drove in 4 runs in the game. Whitewater relieved with 2 outs and the bases loaded and got a grounder for the final out.

In the sixth, though, OBA scored 4 runs and had the tying run on base for a fielder’s choice ended in the inning.

Hajny was in control in the seventh, getting two infield pop ups and a strikeout.

Woodward played the Edmond Stars in a late game on Friday while in between the Stars played another OBA team.

The new Fuller Park will be quite busy on Saturday with 4 games. Woodward faces OBA at 1 p.m. followed by Wichita against OBA at 3 p.m., Edmond against Wichita at 5 p.m. and Edmond against Woodward at 7 p.m. On Sunday, the Travelers face Wichita at 10 a.m. and OBA at 2 p.m. In between OBA and Wichita play at noon.
