ENID - The Traveler Majors overcame an early 3-0 deficit to defeat Enid 11-6 in the first game of an Independence Day doubleheader at David Allen Memorial Ballpark on Wednesday.
Enid took a 3-0 lead before the Travelers started chipping away with a run in the second inning and a run in the third.
The Travelers took the lead with 4 runs in the fifth, but Enid scored 3 in the bottom half to tie the game.
Woodward then picked up 5 runs in the sixth to make it 11-6 and that proved to be the final.
Zach Friesen, Clayton Stoup, Francisco Alvarez and Aaron McCandless all scored twice for the Travelers. Mason Marshall drove in 3 runs.
Alvarez had 3 hits and Connor Ross 2.
Dillon Langston was the winning pitcher in relief of Bryce Clemons.
Enid also jumped out to an early lead in the second game and this time held on to win 5-4.
Enid led 4-1 after 3 innings and 5-2 after 4 frames.
The Travelers cut the deficit to 5-4 in the fifth inning but couldn't get anything going over the fina 2 innings.
Marshall scored 2 runs and drove in another for the Travelers, who had just 2 hits in the game. Ross and Clayton Brewster scored the other 2 Traveler runs.
Woodward did receive a number of walks, but stranded 6 runners in scoring position.
Cameron Ray started and took the loss with Dustin Cook throwing in relief.
The Minors also split at Enid on Wednesday winning the first game 8-1 and losing a 10-8 slugfest in the second game.
In Minors dominated game one throughout. In the second game, the teams traded big innings and Woodward took an 8-7 lead in the fifth, but Enid scored 3 in the sixth and held on to win.
