OKLAHOMA CITY — About 90 minutes before his team took the court to face Miami Monday night inside Chesapeake Energy Arena, Thunder coach Billy Donovan took all of Oklahoma City’s recent struggles and cast them positively.

The Transcript is running a Thunder evaluation series, publishing one article a day on a different Oklahoma City player. We will start with the guards. Monday’s player is Russell Westbrook.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Remember when the Thunder placed Corey Brewer into their starting lineup and looked like they had changed as a team? Brewer was hitting corner 3s, scoring off cuts, defending meaningful perimeter players and flying in transition. Oklahoma City won its first six games with Brewer as its starting shooting guard, and OKC had its placeholder for defensive stopper Andre Roberson, who went down with a season-ending knee injury at the end of January.

The New York Knicks have agreed to a trade that would send 10-time All-Star Carmelo Anthony to the Oklahoma City Thunder, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports. The Thunder will send center Enes Kanter, forward Doug McDermott and the Chicago Bulls’ 2018 second-round pick to complete the deal.

OKLAHOMA CITY — People bustled in and out of Jones Assembly, a quaint-but-hip social haunt on Oklahoma City’s burgeoning Film Row, which will host a handful of popular music acts in the coming months.

HOUSTON — The Thunder felt the pain instead of the benefits when Jerami Grant bashed his head on the rim during the final seconds of their Thursday night loss in Houston.

The NBA has rescinded two of Russell Westbrook's previous technical fouls, bringing his season total down to nine, according to the technical foul tracker on the league's media site.

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Thunder have assigned injured point guard Cameron Payne to their D-League affiliate Oklahoma City Blue, the team announced Sunday. Payne, who has yet to play this year, will begin a rehab assignment there.

The Thunder had a strong 2016, a trip to the Western Conference Finals and a 21-13 start to the ensuing season with one bump along the road. But with the Near Year now arrived, here are resolutions Oklahoma City can use to make itself better in 2017:

OKLAHOMA CITY — Victor Oladipo made his long-awaited return from a sprained right wrist Saturday. He scored 15 points, grabbed four boards and dished two assists during the Thunder's 114-88 blowout victory over the L.A. Clippers.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Jim Tucker was popping champagne Saturday night, and not just because it was New Year’s Eve. The 1950s NBAer cult-famous for owning the title of “fastest man to record a triple-double in an NBA game” can rest easy after Oklahoma City’s 114-88 demolition of the L.A. Clippers.

OKLAHOMA CITY — A 12-point victory over the struggling Minnesota Timberwolves was hardly the most impressive game in Oklahoma City Thunder history. It may, though, have been the best one for local comedy duo Enes Kanter and Steven Adams.

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma City Thunder's official Twitter account tweeted a video of Russell Westbrook going through his pregame routine Christmas afternoon.

BOSTON — There will be two names said even more often than Santa when the Oklahoma City Thunder play the Minnesota Timberwolves on Christmas: Oscar Robertson and Nate Archibald.
