The Oklahoma High School Rodeo Finals rolled on in Woodward Friday with the most interesting action coming in the pole bending event where just six points separate the top three contestants.

As the rodeo moves into its final day, Jessi Eagleberger leads Amy Outhier by five points in the overall standings while third-place rider Renee Hays remains just six points out of the top spot after two days of competition. Hays occupied second place at the onset of the day, but finished ninth among contestants on Friday, allowing Outhier to jump into second in the overall standings.

Outhier, from Weatherford, also moved her way up the goat tying standings by posting a rodeo-best time of 8.23. Her day two time combined with Thursday’s time of 9.18 was enough to land her atop the event’s overall leaderboard with just one day of competition remaining.

Woodward’s Cody Teel moved into first in the bareback riding overall standings as his second-day score of 72 was enough to shoot him past Justin Anderson who failed to register a score on Friday.

Amanda Kiest’s time of 2.66 was tops among breakaway ropers during the rodeo’s second day. Kelsie Chace retained her lead in the event’s overall standings, and Kylie Ward remains in the second position despite registering a time of 17.66 on Friday.

Garrett Baggs seized the overall lead in steer wrestling on Friday as his time of 5.25 was enough to push him past Cade Collins and into first place.

Due to a three-way tie for 15th place, 17 contestants qualified for today’s team roping short-go . Cody Doescher and Tannar Braden remain in first place in the event’s overall standings and lead the competition in average time. The fastest team roping time of the day, however, was a 6.68 turned in by the team of Tyler Bryant and Jordan McCoin. Bryant and McCoin possess the third fastest average as the rodeo moves into its final day.

Blake Deckard retained a secure lead in the overall calf roping standings despite trailing Kaleb Wilbur in average time. Wilbur turned the day’s best time in the event and will look to move up the standings during today’s short-go.

The top of the barrel racing standings remain unchanged after two days of finals action as Cassie Ward, Tiffany Tehee and Kylie Ward retain the first, second, and third spots, respectively.

Today’s final day of competition will consist of a short-go in which the top 15 contestants in each event will participate. Today’s short run will get under way at 7:30 p.m. at the Elks Rodeo Arena.
