Woodward's boys improved to 10-6 with a 64-41 victory over Elk City in a Western Conference basketball game at Boomer Fieldhouse on Tuesday.

It was the Boomers second win this year over Elk City, ranked 16th in Class 4A. Woodward came into the game ranked 20th.

Garrett Owen scored 25 points and Ty Richey 18 to lead the Boomers who opened a 7-point first quarter lead and controlled the action.

Kelly had 15 and Thornton 11 for Elk City.

Brycen Cloyd added 10 points for Woodward.

Also scoring were Anthony Hickman with five points, Trevor Ludwyck four and Zach Taylor two.

Elk City won the girls game 32-29, surviving a couple of late Boomer chances to tie.

Woodward fell to 5-11.

The Boomers host Clinton on Friday for homecoming.
