CACHE - The sixth-ranked Boomers routed the host Bulldogs 54-12 Friday night and tightened their grip on second place in District 4A-1 football.

In addition, the Boomers clinched their first winning season since 2001 with their sixth victory of the year. Woodward is 6-2 overall and 4-1 in 4A-1.

Cache dropped to 2-6 on the year and 0-5 in the district. The Bulldogs won 2 games to start the season and have now lost 6 in a row.

Kale Hixon got the scoring started with a 31-yard run. Micah Kee had a 77-yard run for the second touchdown and Dakota Taylor scored on a  41-yard run that made it 20-0.

Cache countered with a 2-yard run by Judah Sweat to trim the Boomer lead to 20-6 in the second period, but the Boomers answered with two scores of their own. First, Xavier Vo went in from 4-yards out then Kee busted a 55-yard run for a 34-6 halftime lead.

In the third period, Hixon and Kee connected for a 54-yard touchdown pass to make it 41-6.

The Boomers had 404 yards rushing on just 39 attempts and had another 120 yards passing. Cache was able to put up some offensive numbers with 354 yards, but it didn't translate into many points.

Roach's interception was the only turnover by either team.

In other 4A-1 games, Anadarko closed in on the district championship with a  27-0 victory at Piedmont. At 5-0 in league games, the top-ranked Warriors need just one win in their final two games to claim the top seed going into the playoffs.

Clinton broke a 2-game losing skid with a 52-21 win over Elk City. The Tornadoes likely will face Woodward in week 10 with second place in the district on the line.
