WEATHERFORD - The Woodward boy and girls tennis teams competed in Weatherford on Friday and had some good results.

In boys singles action, Boomer Cody Cole lost to W. Spencer of Weatherford 6-3, 6-2, but placed third for Woodward.

In boys doubles play, Tyson Miller and Brady Sunderland defeated T. Hanks and C. Miller of Altus 6-2, 6-2 and also took third place. Woodward’s Vince Lauderdale and Ben Smith lost in the championship match to Sullivan and Sullivan, 6-0, 6-3.

In girls singles action, Woodward’s Maleah Stout defeated A. Singmaster of Perry 8-3 in a pro set that gave her eighth place. K. Barnett defeated A. Erfroth of Elk City 6-0, 6-0 for a third place finish.

In the doubles, it was K. Barnett and K. Williams of Woodward losing to S. George and L. Patrick of Mustang and finishing in eighth place. Boomer S. Day and A. Lauderdale defeated Huckabee and Steem 6-1, 6-1.

The Boomer tennis team will be in action again on April 21, traveling to Elk City for the final regular season matches of the year. The regional play will begin on May 1 for the girls and May 8 for the boys. The west regional hosts will be Duncan and Guthrie playing in Oklahoma City at the OKC Tennis Center.
