NORMAN — A Cleveland County district judge said Monday he’s hopeful lawyers will be able to reach an agreement by July 1 so an $85 million opioid settlement agreement can finally be reached.

About a dozen Oklahomans gathered on the east side of the Cleveland County Courthouse Wednesday morning, the trial between the state of Oklahoma and Johnson & Johnson scheduled to continue that afternoon.
Last week, a team at the Stanford University School of Medicine revisited a 2014 study suggesting states with medical marijuana were logging fewer opioid deaths. The researchers now say there's no connection between readily available cannabis and a drop in opioid overdoses.
