The Woodward County Sheriff's Office is hosting an Oklahoma Self-Defense Act handgun licensing class on April 30 at 8:30 a.m. at Butch's Guns in Woodward.
Woodward County Sheriff Kevin Mitchell said, "I support everyone's 2nd Amendment right to protect yourself and others. I also believe that if you choose to exercise this right, you should be trained in the use of your weapon and in the laws that govern it. That includes being practiced in the skills that it takes to handle that weapon safely and being proficient in its use."
Each person participating in the class if responsible for a $60 fee paid to the instructor on the day of the class. All participants will need to provide their own handgun, at least 50 rounds of ammunition, eye and ear protection, a hat with a bill, and an Oklahoma driver's license or ID card.
The class size is limited to 45, interested participants are urged to reserve their spot by calling the Woodward County Sheriff's Office at 580-256-3264, option 3.
