A one-vehicle accident claimed the life of a Woodward woman Saturday afternoon.
Valarie Sanchez, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident a half-mile north and four miles east of Woodward, said the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Sanchez was driving her Toyota east on State Highway 34C when the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve to the left, ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected, entered a broadside and rolled two times, the OHP said.
Sanchez was pinned for a little over an hour.
A passenger, 20-year-old Dulce Flores of Woodward, was treated and released at Woodward Regional Hospital.
The accident happened around 2:30 pm.
OHP Lt. Phillip Ludwyck investigated the accident. Woodward Fire, EMS and the Woodward County Sheriff's Office also responded to the scene.
