Woodward Public Schools will provide a session for substitute teachers at 9 a.m. Aug. 13 at the board room on the second floor of the school’s administration building, 1023 10th St.
Anyone interested in becoming a substitute teacher also is invited to attend, according to Debbie Harrington of Woodward Public Schools. The session will focus on training and rules and do’s and don’ts.
“This is also a way we can keep a current list, because some won’t return this school year and haven’t called in to say they won’t be back.”
Substitute teachers, unless they are certified, may only teach a certain number of days, Harrington said.
“We encourage people to apply,” she said. “They just have to have a high school diploma to be a substitute teacher. Substitutes are pretty precious, because they may be needed in as little as 20 minutes.”
“Substitute teachers provide a vital service to our schools, students and community.”
Anyone interested in substitution who may have questions should call Harrington at (580) 256-6063, ext. 3455.
