A Woodward woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident that occurred approximately 20 miles southeast of Woodward on US Highway 183/270 Thursday afternoon.

Dixie Lyn Rocha, 41, was transported to Seiling Municipal Hospital where she was pronounced dead with internal trunk injuries, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Rocha was driving a 2004 Chrysler 4-door sedan northwest along Highway 183/270 around 4:40 p.m. Thursday when she lost control of the vehicle, causing it to go into a broadslide, OHP said. The car then traveled left of center, where it collided with a 2002 Freightliner semi driven by Mari Alaine Halverson, 45 of St. Paul, Minn., OHP said.

Halverson and her husband Kevin Lee Halverson, 47, who was a passenger in the semi, were uninjured, OHP said.

Rocha was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident, OHP said.

The accident was investigated by Trooper Cody Rehder of the Shattuck detachment. He was assisted by Trooper Dustin McAtee of the Laverne detachment.

A number of other agencies also responded to the accident including the Woodward County Sheriff’s Office, Dewey County Sheriff’s Office, and the Seiling Police Department. The Woodward, Mutual and Seiling Fire Departments also responded to the scene.
