OKLAHOMA CITY – Woodward Middle School students submitted 40 pieces of artwork to the Oklahoma Junior Art Exhibition at the State Fair of Oklahoma.

The exhibition accepted 33 of the pieces and 15 were awarded merit distinction.

Students with work on exhibit are Michael Woods, Reilly Bennett, Seth Duran, Mandy Eckenrode, Stephanie Mitchell, Preslee Newby, Colton Noreuil, Leah Olson,. Ali Sanders, Jeff Weidemann, Rauchell Clark, Kedrin Coleman, Blythe Gentry, Jon Herring, Kamryn Mahan, Morgan McDonald, Pablo Parra and Celestia Taylor.

Awarded merits were Chloe Baird, Shaden Foresman, Nolan Kline, Allison Meinders, Kaira Perez, Kellie Reidlinger, Stephanie Singhiser, LeAnn Yadon, Kyle Bilbo, Ryan Blakley, Tyler Blanchfield, Spencer Bradford, Molly Castor, Chelsea Reddin and Jenniffer Warfield.

In addition, three pieces out of the 688 shown were selected for special recognition, including a pen and ink drawing of a bumble bee by Warfield that received the “Superintendent’s Award for Technical Excellence.”

Woodward Middle School was one of the 11 schools – out of 66 participating – to receive a gift certificate of $100 for purchase of art supplies in recognition of the school’s artistic achievement. Middle School art teacher are Shelley Cook, Abbie Wasson and Emily Lively.

The fair exhibition had 688 pieces of art selected from 984 entries. Of that total, 324 earned merit distinctions by the jurors.
