ENID - The Travelers crushed the Shawnee Phillies Thursday in the Connie Mack State Baseball Tournament.

With the 10-0 win, the Travelers moved closer to earning a spot in the bracket round of the tournament which starts Saturday. Woodward is 2-0 in its pool with a game left against the Enid Majors tonight at 8:15 p.m. The top two teams in each of the three pools advance to the bracket round.

The loss was the first for Shawnee in the tournament as the Phillies beat the Enid Majors 9-4 late Wednesday night.

Enid played the Southwest Shockers Black late Thursday night with both teams looking for their first win of the state tournament.

The Travelers are trying to qualify for the Connie Mack Regional which starts next Wednesday, also in Enid.

Woodward pounded out 11 hits and ended the game in five innings. Dillon Bumgarner allowed just three hits and struck out four in five innings. He used only 62 pitches in the game.

Offensively Jett Brown and Drake Kerr had a pair of hits.

Colten Hunter drove in four runs and Brown three. David Garcia also drove in a run.

All of the Traveler starters got at least one hit in the game.

Kerr, Ty Goss and Michael Wingfield all scored twice.

Woodward scored a single run in the first inning, then took command with three more in the second. In the fourth, the Travelers added another run and they tacked on five more in the fifth inning.

In other games on Thursday, Sandlot Ballard edged the Oklahoma Expos 2-0, Shockers Red beat the Premier Titans 7-1 and Sandlot Painter 18 routed the Edmond Stars 8-0. Also, MVP-Seng defeated the Enid Plainsmen.

Woodward's 16-under team will open play in the Louisville Slugger World Series at Chickasha today.

Woodward faces the Branditos at 12:20 p.m. and Arkansas Express 16-under at 2 p.m. The remainder of the schedule for Woodward will be determined by results of those and other games today in five-team tournament.
