CANTON – Sandy Cove Christmas is set for Dec. 1-3 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Sandy Cove Christmas is presented by the Canton-Longdale communities and area churches and depicts the birth, life, death, resurrection and ascension of Christ.

The event will feature 50 to 75 members of the Canton-Longdale community in costume along with live animals including donkeys, llamas, sheep, goats, cattle and a camel. A new scene this year includes the Last Supper. There will also be a choir.

The pageant is sponsored by the Canton Lions Club and the Canton Chamber of Commerce.

A free tram ride is being offered this year for those who would like to view the event without waiting in long car lines. Those wishing to take the tram will meet at Canton’s Overlook Cafe board a bus to Sandy Cove. There they will board the tram and tour the pageant.

To reach the Overlook Cafe drivers will need to travel one mile west of the four-way stop sign in Canton on Highway 51 to the Canton Farm Supply store. Then turn north on Highway 51A which will lead to the Overlook Cafe.

Those wishing to view the pageant from their own cars are asked to enter Sandy Cove by way of Thunder Road. To reach Thunder Road take Highway 51 east to the 51-58 Junction. Then take Highway 58 north to Longdale. Turn west at the Blackjack Cafe and Jiffy Trip and go approximately three miles to Thunder Road. Then turn left onto Thunder Road which will lead to Sandy Cove.
