A Sharon man who was driving a car that wrecked and killed two women has been charged with two counts of first-degree manslaughter in Woodward County District Court.
A bench warrant has been issued for James Kyle Killman, 22. His bond is set at $250,000.
According to the affidavit filed with the charges, Killman allegedly was driving intoxicated at a high rate of speed three miles south of Woodward on Eighth St. on July 28. He lost control of the vehicle and rolled it with three passengers inside, Jessica Leanora Lyons, 21, of Enid; Adam Mares, 23, of Cherokee; and Kristin Nelson, 21, of Woodward.
Nelson and Lyons were pronounced dead at the scene.
Mares allegedly told Investigator Butch Hutchens that he asked Killman to pull over because the man was driving recklessly. Mares said that Killman verbally agreed, but then increased his speed and lost control of the vehicle, ejecting Mares, according to the affidavit.
Woodward Police Officer Billy Parker went to the emergency room at Woodward Regional Hospital where he allegedly heard Killman admit to hospital personnel that he had been drinking whiskey, the affidavit said. Woodward Regional Hospital reports allegedly show that Killman’s blood-alcohol content was almost three times the legal limit, according to the affidavit.
