The Woodward First Church of the Nazarene has big plans to give an old message a new twist.

On Sunday, at 10:45 a.m. the church will be hosting its second annual friend day.

“We want all of our members to invite a friend to church with them on the (Sept.) 11th. We want everyone to invite someone that doesn’t have a church home yet and maybe hasn’t thought abut getting one until now,” said Pastor Stephen D. Cecil.

The service will include special music and the churches praise band as well as a meal immediately following the service. The children’s church will also have a special friendship service during the regular church service as well.

“The service will not be the usual boring mundane ritual that everyone thinks church is. We will bring a message about the importance of friendship and how to be a better friend in the eyes of God,” Cecil said. “We want everyone to invite their unchurched relatives and friends, maybe they will come and give an opportunity to church. Give church a try.

“We want this to be a way of expressing our appreciation to all of our friends and help everyone see that church is something to enjoy and grow through.”
