The Woodward Chamber of Commerce has announced that its annual banquet will not be held on Jan. 14 as originally scheduled.

Chamber President C.J. Montgomery said there have been scheduling conflicts with potential speakers which have made it necessary to change the date of the banquet.

Montgomery also noted that because of the scheduling conflicts the Chamber has not had the opportunity to actively promote the banquet.

However, he said the Chamber is still hoping to hold the banquet sometime in January.

The Chamber is still finalizing some details, but more information about the new banquet plans should be forthcoming within the next week, he said.

And while the date may be changing, Montgomery said the banquet will still be as great as ever.

“It will be a great evening,” he said. “Folks won’t be disappointed.”

“We will still announce the citizen of the year and the student citizens of the year,” he said.

Montgomery noted that this is the second year in a row that the Chamber has had to reschedule the banquet.

“Last year we had to reschedule because of the weather,” he said.
