Johny Schwab, 65-year-old Woodward resident, died Sept. 6, 2007 at his home. Funeral service will be Monday, Sept. 10, 2007 at 2 p.m. in the Garden Chapel of Johnson’s Good Samaritan Funeral Service. The Rev. Bill Tindell will officiate. Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.

Johny Lynn Schwab was born Dec. 24, 1941 in Shattuck, Okla. to John and Mabel (Strandberg) Schwab. He grew up at Fort Supply and graduated from the Fort Supply High School in 1959. He then attended Panhandle State University for a time and then served in the United States Navy for four years. He was a U.S. Mail Carrier in California for a time before making his home in Woodward. He worked in carpet sales for Interiors of Woodward and in 1976, he started Tri-State Carpet Care, which he operated for 31 years. On February 10, 1979, he was married to Jean Hort in Woodward and Johny became "Dad" to her three children.

Johny was an ardent O.U. fan, attending their games for as long as he could walk. He also followed the Woodward Travelers and enjoyed many other sporting events.

Mr. Schwab died Sept. 6, 2007 at his home in Woodward.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Harold and Gene.

He is survived by his wife, Jean, of the home; his children, Mitchell Hort and wife, Kristi, of Yukon, Okla., Rusty Hort and wife Debra, of Woodward, and Casey Forrest, and husband, Lonnie, of Woodward; his grandchildren, Sgt. Ashley Hort, Alyson Hort, and fiancee, Kyle Carey, Michele Hort, Melissa Hort, Summer Rice and fiancee, Bret Brown, Brody Rice, Kole Forrest, Baylee Forrest, Ashley Whalin, and Jennifer Grandthem; a very special great granddaughter, Rileigh Hort; two sisters-in-law, Bernita and Louise Schwab; nieces, nephews, other relatives; a special "son" and his wife, Jim and Gennifer Martin and their children, Skylar and Isbella; and his constant companions, Molly and Lilly.
