Hazel Earnie Coleman was born March 4, 1923 on the family farm near Balko, Okla. to Earl and Bessie (Ballard) Pierce. On April 14, 1946 she was married to Verice Leroy Coleman in Liberal, Kan. and they made their home in Beaver, Okla. During the summer of 1963, they moved to Woodward where she worked for Northwest Carpet and Tile.

Mrs. Coleman’s most enjoyment came from the quality time spent working in the yard with Vernice, sewing, crocheting, and spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. She was a member of the Woodward Church of the Nazarene.

Hazel lived a very simple life but a very full one. She loved the Lord and her church, her family, and her husband dearly. She left a trail of love and joy wherever she went, and Hazel loved serving others. Heaven’s a richer place today because she’s there!

Mrs. Coleman died April 3, 2006 at Edmond, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Aubrey Pierce; and two sisters, Adella Pierce and Eva Prue Pierce.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Vernice Coleman; her son and his wife, Lynford and Donna Coleman of Lynn Haven, Fla.; her daughter and her husband, Karen and J.D. Crooks, of Oklahoma City; three brothers, Escal Pierce of Guymon, Evan Pierce of Fairview, and Marvin Pierce of Bartlesville; two sisters, Betha Anz of Beaver, and Dorene Phelps of Arvada, Colo.; six grandchildren, Michael, Justin, and Kristen Crooks, Michelle (Crooks) Heath, and Scott and Jeffrey Coleman; seven great grandchildren, Connor, Coby, and Cale Heath, John Michael Crooks, and Jeremy, Caroline, and Nicholas Coleman; and other relatives and friends.
