ELMER DALE WHITMARSH was born on Nov. 4, 1924 at Gate, Okla. to Byron J. and Lucille (Mendenhall) Whitmarsh. He went to be with his Lord on April 20, 2006, at the Seiling Municipal Hospital at the age of 81. As a young child, Dale and his family lived in Mokane, Okla. and later moved to Forgan, Okla. where Dale attended grade school, his high school years were spent at Vici, Okla., he went on to Haviland Bible College and later Friends University.

In 1943 Dale served in the U.S. Navy, until 1946. He held the ranking of Gunners mate 3rd.

On Jan. 18, 1948, Dale was united in marriage to Lois Irva Pierce in Woodward, Okla. Four children were born to this happy union. Bryon, Lora, Margaret and Lisa, the family lived in several different areas, Las Animas, Colo.; Haviland, Kan.; Wichita, Kan.

Dale had a love for the Lord and sharing the word, in the spring of 1949 Dale received the call to the ministry during a revival. He attended Haviland Bible College from 1950 to 1953 transferring to Friends University in Wichita, Kan. and graduating in 1954 with a bachelor arts degree. He attended summer school at Perkins School of Theology in Dallas, Texas receiving full credit on Conference Course of study in 1959. He was ordained an Elder in the Methodist Church 1961. Dale served as a pastor for 33 years. He served various Methodist Churches in Oklahoma, Missouri and Tennessee. Dale retired in 1985, after retirement Dale and Lois moved to his home town, Vici, Okla., in 1987, they attended the Vici Church of the Nazarene. Dale served as the Adult Sunday School teacher and on the visitation committee.

Dale enjoyed being with people, going to church and being with his family and his church family. Dale enjoyed being outside, he always had a big garden to work and loved to share the crops with friends.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents; Bryon and Lucille Whitmarsh, one sister Luetta Smith and one brother, J.D. Whitmarsh and one son, Bryon Ray Whitmarsh.

Dale is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Lois of the home, daughters Lora Stutzman and Lisa Jones all of Tulsa, Okla., Margaret Flewelling of Vici and seven grandchildren; Amy Flewelling of Vici, Jeremy Flewelling of Enid, Dara Jennings of Tulsa, Cathy Jo Suder of Tulsa, Jerrod Stutzman of Plano, Texas, Audrea Jones and Danny Jones both of Tulsa; and 5 great-grandchildren Kaela Jennings, Amanda Randolph, Angela Randolph, Josh Randolph, Tyler Scott Suder all of Tulsa, two close family friends Steve Harris, Jim Atkinson, three brothers Fred and Elsie Whitmarsh of Richardson, Texas, Jimmy and wife Lynda Whitmarsh of Hardwick, Texas, and Billy Whitmarsh of Vella Rica, Ga.; other dear relatives and many friends.

Services were held Monday, April 24, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Vici Church of the Nazarene interment following at the Sunnyside Cemetery Vici, Okla. under the direction of Shaw Funeral Home.
