The Neon Lights of the historic Woodward Arts Theatre marquee are on once again.
A lighting ceremony Thursday, May 2, has the marquee brightly shining once again. The short ceremony featured a welcome from the mayor, a little history and recognition of donors before the switch was flipped and history came alive once again.
The neon-light marquee was originally installed in 1947 a few months after the Woodward Tornado that devastated the community. In 2017, the fundraising drive started to relight the marquee, which had not been done in 25 some years.
That project came to fruition on Thursday night, helping kick off the Twister Alley Film Festival as well.
The film festival runs through Saturday.
