Fans of southern redneck humor like Jeff Foxworthy or Larry the Cable Guy should make their way to the Woodward Arts Theater Thursday, Friday, or Saturday.

OnStage Woodward is presenting the play Radio T.B.S. written by by Mark Landon Smith.

“This is a comical look at the lives of a group of people living in a trailer park called the manufactured home oasis and monkey emporium located in Florida. The trailer park has a small radio station in it that all the citizens listen to and this play looks at the crazy people and their lives that take place in this small trailer community,” said Glen Dorr, director of the play.

“The play shows one woman who is obsessed with Elvis and also the problems that occur while trying to recruit local young ladies to participate in the local Miss Manatee Pageant as well,” Dorr said.

The play will begin every night at 8 p.m. and admission will be $8 for adults and $4 for students.

“We have some old pro’s and long time favorites in the cast this year as well as some newcomers to the stage to make for a great mix of cast that everyone should enjoy. A couple of the long-time favorites coming back to the stage after a few years are DeAnna Nielsen playing the Elvis crazed fan and Geneva Cox playing one of the hostesses of the radio show,” Dorr said.

Dorr added, “the set design is also very good and the second half of the play the set mostly is a living nativity scene entitled Jesus and Elvis, “A Tribute to the Kings.”

Tickets can be purchased at the box office. There will be no reserved seating and the tickets will all be general admission.

“This is the second play I have directed and I have really loved directing this one. Everyone in the cast has really stepped up and created their own character. Really all I did was give the cast a basic guide of what I wanted from the character and they filled in the rest,” Dorr said. “It is really turning out very well.

“The cast had been working very hard since July and we hope everyone comes out to enjoy this funny and humorous look at southern life.”
