Savannah Leigh Smith and Matthew Carl Shirley were united in marriage on June 27, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Aaron Martin and Dr. W. Jene Miller officiated.
Savannah is the daughter of Barry and Sally Smith of Woodward. Here grandparents are Mary Weems of Woodward and the late Royce Weems of Jackson, Miss., Arlene and Paul Condit of Lillian, Ala., and the late Jim and Florence Smith of Jackson, Miss.
Matt is the son of Randy and Terri Shirley of Arnett. Grandparents are Wanda and Floyd Blakely Jr. of Cleburne, Texas, Wanda Ort of Fort Worth, Texas and the late Jay Shirley of Crowley, Texas. His great grandmother is Alice Bowles of Arnett.
Savannah wore a diamond white gown with beaded flowers that decorated the sweetheart neckline and bodice. The ruche tulle wrapped across the waist and gathered into a full skirt. She carried a garden bouquet of hydrangeas, bells of Ireland, calla lilies, statis and liatrice. She was escorted by her father.
The maids of honor were Chelsea Roberts and Mackenzie Liles, friends of the bride. Bridesmaids were Alisha Story, Shannon Kline, Ashley McDonald and Nicole Stephenson, friends of the bride. They wore knee length dark plum dresses. The flower girl was Abby Sweeny, niece of the groom.
The best man was Will Whitson, friend of the groom. Groomsmen were Riley Dearing, Jaret Dowler, Mark Zadorozny, Blake Knowles and Tyler Bryant, friends of the groom. The ring bearer was Luke Sweeny, nephew of the groom.
A reception followed at the Woodward Elks Lodge.
After a honeymoon trip to Hawaii, the couple is making their home in Woodward. Savannah is a first grade teacher at Horace Mann and the Woodward High School dance coach. Matt works for Great White Pressure Control of Arnett.
