WHS teams keep seasons going

Woodward, Okla. — WEATHERFORD - Woodward’s basketball teams kept their seasons going with victories in the Class 4A regional at Eagle Fieldhouse on Wednesday.

The boys evened their season mark at 12-12 with a 66-47 win over Clinton while the girls beat Douglass 58-36.

The girls will now face Bridge Creek tonight (Thursday) at  6 p.m. with a trip to the area tournament up for grabs.

The boys will face Weatherford or Elk City at 7:30 p.m., with the winner going to area.

The area tournament starts Friday in Yukon.

Woodward’s boys trailed after one quarter, then began pulling away from Clinton. The Boomers led by 9 at halftime and stretched the margin to 14 after 3 quarters.

Taylan Iliff led 3 players in double figures with 19 points. Ty Richey scored 14 and Trevor Collier 11.

Woodward’s girls won their second straight elimination game and improved to 7-17.

Haylee Bates and Mercedeez Bell scored in double figures for the Boomers, who are going for a second straight trip to the area tournament.
