Woodward's girls broke into the win column and the boys completed a sweep of the visiting Guymon Tigers at in high school basketball action at Boomer Fieldhouse on Tuesday.
Haylee Bates scored 23 points as the Woodward girls posted a 62-54 victory. The Boomers won the boys game 69-56, improving to 3-4. Both Guymon teams are 2-5.
The girls led most of the way, opening up a 10-point advantage in the second period. Guymon closed the gap, but the Boomers still led at halftime. The Boomers led throughout the second half, turning away Guymon rallies with strong free throw shooting.
Woodward hit 22-of-26 from the line.
Mercedeez Bell was also in double figures for the Boomers with 12 points. Kameron Pope added 9 and Amanda Covalt 8.
Ashton Sledge had 13 for Guymon.
Woodward controlled most of the boys game, but had to hold off a Tiger rush late in the third period and into the fourth quarter.
Guymon cut a big deficit down to 10 points twice in the fourth period, but couldn't get any closer as Woodward was able to control the ball and hit some free throws down the stretch to seal the win.
Taylan Iliff, Kaleb Roach and Ty Richey combined for 49 points to lead the Boomer offense.
Guymon got 17 points from Marco Rodriguez.
Woodward goes to Elk City for a Western Conference doubleheader on Friday.
