Woodward JV softball team wins Panhandle Shootout

Woodward, Okla. — Woodward's JV softball team won the championship in the Panhandle Shootout at Beaver on Saturday night.

The Boomer JV defeated Buffalo 15-9 in the finals to complete the title run.

Woodward beat Laverne 10-5 in the quarterfinals and Forgan 7-4 in the semifinal round.

On Friday, the Boomer JV split a pair of games, beating Boise City 7-6 and losing to Beaver 7-6.

In another area tournament on Saturday, the defending state champion Hammon Warriors routed Leedey 9-1 to win the Leedey Tournament.

In other games, Sentinel edged Sare 9-7 for third place, Mooreland nipped Vici 3-2 in the fifth place game and Arnett edged Shattuck 10-9 for seventh place.

This week's local schedule has the Woodward varsity at Hammon on Monday, hosting Alva on Tuesday and going to Elk City on Friday.

The Boomer JV team will go to Seiling on Tuesday and Sharon-Mutual on Friday.

On Friday and Saturday, Woodward will host a junior high tournament with games at Crystal Beach Park and Woodward High School.
