Tigers crush Davenport

Woodward, Okla. — LAVERNE – Top-ranked Laverne made quick work of Davenport at Kilmer Field on Friday.

The Tigers routed Davenport 46-0 in the Class B state quarterfinals, ending the game at the 10:39 mark of the second period via the 45-point mercy rule.

Trevor Harris scored 4 touchdowns to pace the 11-0 Tigers, who will play Rejoice Christian, a 44-22 winner over Garber, next week.

Laverne needed just 2 plays to get on the scoreboard as Harris broke loose for a 42-yard touchdown run. Harris added the conversion to make it 8-0.

The Tigers were dominant in all aspects, moving the ball up and down the field and also stopping the Bulldogs. Davenport had just one real scoring threat as it advanced inside the Tiger 10 in the second period before Jaren Nine knocked a fourth down pass.

Harris also had Laverne’s second score on a 24-yard run, just 3 plays after the Tigers stopped a fake punt attempt. Tucker Rolf got Laverne’s third score on an 8-yard run to make it 22-0 in the first period.

In the second quarter, Harris scored from 2-yards out and Dalton Birch added the conversion for a 30-0 lead.

The margin grew to 38-0 as the Tigers recovered a short kickoff and converted on a 16-yard pass from Rolf to Seth Overstreet with 31 seconds left in the half.

Laverne took the second half kickoff and ended the game as Harris went 25 yards to score and Rolf threw to Birch for the conversion and 46-0 final.
