Four WHS players sign with Northwestern

Woodward, Okla. — Four Woodward High School seniors signed letters of intent to play football at Northwestern Oklahoma State University.

Wednesday was the first day of the national signing period and NCAA Division II Northwestern, a member of the Great American Conference, will add 4 players from the Boomers 8-4 Class 4A state quarterfinal team. Jason Alexander, Kyler Ferguson, Micah Kee and Seth Mead will play for the Rangers in the 2014 season.

Alexander had an impact on both sides of the ball as a wide receiver and defensive back for the Boomers.

Ferguson has been one of the leading tacklers in Class 4A since his sophomore season. He started 35 games for the Boomers.

Kee had a big year at linebacker and on offense as where he scored 14 touchdowns his senior season as a rusher and receiver.

Mead became a solid contributer during his career and had 90 receiving yards as a senior.

Two Sharon-Mutual players also signed letters on Wednesday with quarterback Cooper Free going to Southwestern and defensive lineman John Custar headed to Oklahoma Baptist University. Custar will also throw the shot put for the Bison.

Free and Custar spurred Sharon-Mutual's run to the Class C state semifinals for the third year in a row.
