Woodward's varsity and junior varsity softball teams advanced to Saturday's semifinals of their home tournament.
The Boomer varsity defeated Texhoma 8-0 and Sharon-Mutual 13-1 on Friday and the junior varsity team downed Aline-Cleo 10-0 and edged Buffalo 2-1.
Woodward's varsity, 4-1, faces Vici Saturday at 11:30 a.m. In the earlier semifinal, the Boomer JV, 6-1, takes on Alva at 10 a.m.
Vici defeated the Guymon JV and Heritage Hall while Alva got past Watonga and Shattuck.
The 16-team double elimination tournament concludes on Saturday with the championship game at 6 p.m.
Hillary Hurst tossed a no-hitter in the win over Texhoma. Only 2 Red Devil players reached base, one via an error and the other on a walk.
Offensively, the Boomers took a 3-0 lead into the sixth inning and broke the game open with 5 runs.
Lindsey Custer had 4 hits, scored a run and drove in 2 more. Jessica Burkhart and McKenzie Hunter each drove in 2 runs.
A six-run first inning put the Boomers in control early against Sharon-Mutual.
Burkhart singled home 2 runs and Hurst hit an RBI triple. Heidi McEwan and Devre Newby also drove in runs.
The Boomers added a run in the second inning and 5 more in the third with Newby's 2-run single a key blow. Hadlee Harmon also drove in a pair of runs in the game. Adyson Clark was the winning pitcher.
Sharon-Mutual scored its only run in the first inning.
The Trojans won their first game of the day over Forgan, 4-1.
After beating Aline-Cleo handily, the Woodward JV won a tough contest with Buffalo, scoring single runs in the second and third innings and holding off some Buffalo threats.
Sierra Whipple was the winning pitcher.
Buffalo had won its first game, 2-1 over Seiling.
