Laverne, Sharon-Mutual stay perfect on year


Woodward, Okla. — Pond Creek-Hunter 40, Seiling 14

The Panthers kept pace with Laverne by defeating Seiling 40-16.

Pond Creek-Hunter improved to 8-0 as Trent Grimes and Harley Comeau each scored 2 touchdowns.

Seiling scored all of its points in the fourth period.

Okeene 49, Beaver 14

Okeene stayed unbeaten in District A-1 play, pulling away from the Dusters after an even first period.

Each team scored in the first quarter, but Okeene opened the gap with a 14-point second period and controlled the second half.

Scott Dobrinski ran for 2 touchdowns and threw for 3 more to lead the Whippets, now 7-1 on the season.

Dillon Cain and Harley Skaggs had scores for the Dusters, who lost their seventh consecutive game.

Fairview 21, Texhoma 14

The Yellowjackets won the thriller of the night in 2 overtimes.

Joel Kliewer's 2-yard run in the second extra period and the conversion by Brett Fast gave the Yellowjackets the lead, then the defense stopped Texhoma's possession with a fourth down sack.

Fairview had a chance to win in the first overtime but missed a field goal.

The game was tied 7-7 at halftime, then Texhoma took the lead in the fourth period on a 38-yard by Jacob Test. Fairview answered and finished off a long drive with a 4-yard run by Kliewer.

In some other games, Mooreland defeated Hooker 23-17 and Waynoka downed Tyrone 24-14. Also Boise City beat the Oklahoma City Patriots 70-32 in a game that was played at Boomer Stadium in order to cut down travel for both teams.
