Area teams pick up playoff wins

Woodward, Okla. — Laverne scored 38 points in the first period and buried Central Marlow 58-12 in the Class B football playoffs on Friday.

The game ended early in the third period via the 45-point mercy rule.

Trevor Harris scored on a 43-yard run just 2 minutes into the game to start the Lavern barrage. He followed that by intercepting Central quarterback John Repp and returning the ball 55 yards for a touchdown.

Harris then threw to Dalton Birch for a 58-yard score and Laverne was up 24-0.

A 21-yard pass from Tucker Rolf to Harris made it 32-0.

Central scored, but the Tigers came right back with a 24-yard run by Birch to make it 38-6 after one quarter.

In the second period, Rolf and Harris teamed up for an 82-yard touchdown pass.

Tanner Allen had the final 2 Laverne scores on runs of 8 and 14 yards.

The Tigers had 370 yards in total offense in the game.

Laverne, 11-0, will host 9-2 Davenport in the quarterfinals on Friday.



Fairview 35, Apache 34

Fairview stayed alive in the playoffs with a fourth period rally to edge Apache.

Grant Nightengale's 18-yard run and the extra point by Dylan Lipps gave the Jackets a 1-point victory on their home field.

Fairview led 21-7 at halftime behind 3 touchdown passes by Nightengale, but Apache scored 27 unanswered points to take a 34-21 lead in the fourth period.

Nightengale's 1-yard run and the extra point cut it to 34-28 and the game-winning score followed.

Michael Christoper had 2 touchdowns for Fairview and Joel Kliewer one.

Both teams had big nights offensively with Apache collecting 399 yards in offense and Fairview 378.

Fairview travels to Cashion for the second round.



Hollis 53, Okeene 21

Okeene scored first but couldn't keep pace with the Hollis Tigers.

Hollis opened up a 27-14 halftime lead, then put the game away with 19 points in the third period.

Chance Bedwell scored twice for Okeene and Trent Turner once.

Kahalil Johnson had 3 touchdowns for Hollis and threw a touchdown pass.



Forgan 64, Temple 0

Unbeaten Forgan needed just a half to eliminate Temple.

Jake Regier returned the opening kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown as the Bulldogs scored 32 points in each quarter.

Dalton Lemieux hit 4 of 6 passes for 201 yards and 3 touchdowns, and also had 2 touchdown runs for the Bulldogs. Trevin Lopez scored 4 times, twice on runs and twice on receptions.

Forgan had 500 yards on offense in just 2 quarters.

The Bulldogs host Deer Creek-Lamont on Friday in the Class C quarterfinals.



Balko 44, Ryan 14

The Bison pulled the biggest upset of the first round with an impressive road win.

Jordan Bush and Wyatt Casper sparked the Bison early as they built a 28-6 lead and went on to eliminate the Ryan Cowboys. Balko travels to face undefeated Cherokee on Friday in the Class C quarterfinals.



Texhoma 56, Snyder 6

Texhoma, ranked in the top 5 in Class A, cruised past Snyder in the opening round of the playoffs.

The Red Devils will host a 10-1 Crescent team next week in the round of 16.

Bryson Beattie had 5 touchdown runs and Jack Powers 2 for the Red Devils, who led 43-6 at halftime. Seven of the 8 Texhoma touchdowns came on plays of 25 yards or longer.
