Boomers drop game to Rangers

Woodward, Okla. — PERRYTON, Texas – The Boomers gave up 7 runs in the final 2 innings and dropped a 9-8 high school baseball decision to the Rangers on Monday.

The loss dropped the Boomers to 1-3 overall and will play Clinton on Thursday in the home opener before traveling to Liberal, Kan. on Saturday.

Against Perryton, the Boomers scored 6 runs in the first inning and leading 8-2 going into the bottom of the  6th frame.

The Rangers scored 4 times in the 6th to trim the lead to 8-6. Then, they got 3 in the 7th on a single, two errors, a hit batsman and walk. The Boomers didn’t get an out in the 7th inning.

In the big first inning, Troy Reddoch had a 2-run double for the Boomers and Francisco Alvarez doubled in a run. Garrett Hines and Jake Hughes also had RBI in the inning.

The Boomers added 2 more runs in fourth as Hines singled home a run and Garrett Owen drove in another on a fielders’ choice.

Woodward had several more opportunities but left 13 runners on base, including 10 in scoring position.

Alvarez had 3 hits and Garrett Owen, Kyler Ferguson, Reddoch and Hines had 2 each.

Ferguson started and pitched into the 6th inning. Reddoch relieved and took the loss.
