Woodward, Okla. —
WHS soccer looks to advance
The Boomer soccer team puts a 6-match winning streak on the line tonight against Dove Science Academy in the Class 4A playoffs.
Kickoff is 6:30 p.m. at Boomer Stadium.
This is a rematch of a first-round game last year won 5-4 in overtime by Dove Science.
Woodward is looking to reverse that outcome this year and is coming off perhaps its most impressive night of the season in last week’s 6-1 rout of the Weatherford Eagles to win the district crown.
Dove Science advanced with a 3-1 win over Classen in last Friday’s preliminary round game. Dove Science finished second in its district to Santa Fe South, losing in a shootout.
The Boomers have outscored their opponents 33-3 over the last 6 matches.
The winner will face Santa Fe South or Clinton in the quarterfinals. Clinton scored a 2-1 upset at Madill last week.
Weatherford also advanced in the preliminary round with a 3-1 decision over Newcastle and will face Southeast tonight.

Kee won the regional championship in the long jump with a leap of 20-6.25 in the regional at Cache on Saturday. Kee’s jump was third best among the state qualifiers in the 4 regionals.
The state meet is Friday and Saturday in Ardmore.
Dakota Taylor also qualified with a third place in the shot put.
On the girls side, Devre Newby qualified in the long jump, high jump and 300 hurdles and Drew Grunewald in the long jump.

Cassidy Fisher qualified for state in the shot put and discus and Kadee Kenney in the long jump and high jump.
