ALTUS - The Traveler Majors won a pair of games Thursday in the Lawton Festival.
In games actually played at Western State College in Altus, the Majors defeated the Traveler Minors 9-3 and the Southwest Shockers Grey team 12-2.
Against the Minors, Thomas Sander pitched into the 6th inning for the win with Harley Herring finishing up.
Offensively, the Majors scored 8 runs in the first 3 innings.
Gunner Garrison started and took the loss for the Minors with Gage Owen throwing in relief.
Francisco Alvarez had 3 hits, including a home run, scored twice and drove in 3 runs to pace the Majors. Leno Ramirez added a pair of hits. Ramirez, Garret Collins and Matt Martiin all had doubles.
The Majors had 12 hits.
Beau Srader had 3 of the Minors 4 hits and drove in a run. Garrett Hines and Cash Pool also drove in runs.
In the win over the Shockers, the Majors got 3 runs in the first inning and never trailed.
For the game, Woodward had 16 hits and broke the gameopen with 9 runs over the final 3 innings.
Zach Fowler had 4 hits to pace the attack. Korey Floyd, Collins, Dalton Reed, Herring and Dakota Woods all had 2 hits. Collins and Fowler each drove in 3 runs and Herring and Reed had 2 RBI. Floyd scored 4 runs and Ramirez 3.
Dalton Shalberg went all 7 innings for the victory, striking out 5 and allowing just 3 hits.
Still it was a 3-1 game through four innings. In the fifth, the Travelers pieced together a pair of runs on 4 hits, then added 2 more in the sixth and scored 5 in the seventh on 6 hits.
The Majors are 28-22 on the season.
