NORMAN — The 2012-13 NBA season tips off tonight with a double header of games. They include the Boston against the defending champion Heat and Dallas taking on the L.A. Lakers.
Brooklyn and New York were scheduled to play tonight, but the Hurricane Sandy changed those plans. The teams now will open their season Thursday.
Oklahoma City also will not take to the court until Thursday when it travels to San Antonio. That gives the Thunder some extra time to integrate its newest members Kevin Martin and Jeremy Lamb to the team. The two were part of the blockbuster trade that sent sixth-man of the year James Harden to the Rockets. They also lost Cole Aldrich and Daequan Cook. It's a look the team's core is going to have to get used to seeing.
“It was tough,” Kevin Durant said. “It was a little awkward today not having Daequan, Lazar, Cole and James here. But it’s a new day for us and we’ve been through it before [with Jeff Green], so we’ve just got to move on.”
