Shattuck hands Balko first loss


Woodward, Okla. — Mooreland 28, Beaver 22

Mooreland used a 14-point third period to get its first district win of the season.

Kyler Hensley scored runs of 14 and 4 yards in the third period as the Bearcats broke open a 14-14 halftime tie.

Beaver got a touchdown with 4:15 left in the game, but the Bearcats responded by running out the clock.

Mooreland improved to 4-2 overall and 1-2 in District A-1. Beaver lost its fifth consecutive game.

Hensley and Landon Peach hooked up for an 80-yard touchdown pass just three minutes into the game and Blake Murray's extra point made it 7-0.

Beaver countered with a 2-yard run by Hadley Skaggs, then took a 14-7 lead early in the second period on a  42-yard run by David Stout.

Hensley scored the first of his 3 touchdowns on a 2-yard run just 21 seconds before halftime.

Mooreland will go to Fairview next week while Beaver travels to Hooker.

Okeene 55, Turpin 12

The Whippets never trailed in raising their District A-1 record to 3-0.

Kade Mitch scored on a 10-yard run early on to start a 34-point half for the Whippets.

Turpin stayed within sight with a couple of second quarter touchdowns, but Okeene added 2 touchdowns in the third period to ice the game.

Scott Dobrinski had 4 touchdown runs in the game and also threw a 68-yard touchdown pass to Blake Boeckman. Mitch added another touchdown in the second half and Beau Jenkins had a touchdown.

Merritt 44, Seiling 28

The Oilers stayed unbeaten on the season by outscoring Seiling 30-8 in the fourth period.

Seiling took a 20-14 lead into the final 12 minutes, but Merritt's Pierson Waugh took over, scoring 4 times on runs of 2, 35, 33 and 31 yards. Waugh had 5 touchdowns in the game.

Trevor Thurber, Brit Shuck and Eric Young all scored for Seiling. Shuck had touchdown receptions of 80 and 50 yards from Eric Young.

Most of the points came in the second half as the game was tied 6-6 at halftime.

Texhoma 19, OBA 7

Texhoma stayed unbeaten in District A-1 and kept pace with Okeene at the top of the leg standings.

The Red Devils used a powerful running game to keep OBA at bay. Texhoma had 353 yards on the ground and 428 overall in building a 19-0 lead..

Ringwood 46, Canton 22

The Red Devils scored the first 28 points of the game and never trailed

Eudaldo Gomez had 5 touchdowns to pace Ringwood, which scored in every quarter.
