Woodward, Okla. — Summer registration opens

Kids, Inc. is taking signups for summer baseball, softball and t-ball.

The registration period runs through April 26 and to sign up a child must be 5-years-old before May 1.

The child does not have to be present at signup.

Before a child can play any sport, a birth certificate must be on file at Kids, Inc.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

Oral Roberts, Central Ark. players earn SLC awards

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oral Roberts' Alex Gonzalez and Central Arkansas' Blake Marchal have been chose the Southland Conference pitcher and player of the week.

Gonzalez was selected after throwing a complete game six-hitter in ORU's 8-2 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Gonzalez struck out eight and allowed just one earned run.

Marchal went 7-for-15 at the plate with his first two career home runs and drove in 10 runs as Central Arkansas went 3-1 with a win over No. 18 Oklahoma State and a series win against Lamar in SLC play.

Middle school soccer results

The Woodward Middle School soccer teams opened their seasons Monday and came away with draws against Weatherford. Both the boys and girls games ended in a 3-3 tie.

Golf Tournament moved

The Woodward High School boys golf tournament scheduled on Tuesday has been moved due to weather concerns. The tournament will now be played on Friday at the Woodward Municipal Course, said Boomer golf coach Shane Pinckard.

Schaef resigns as SWOSU basketball coach

WEATHERFORD, Okla. (AP) — Charlie Schaef has resigned as the men's basketball coach at Southwestern Oklahoma State after four seasons.

Athletic director Todd Thurman announced Schaef's resignation Monday after the Bulldogs went 12-16 last season.

The Bulldogs were 57-57 under Schaef, with back-to-back winning seasons before dropping off last season. SWOSU reached the championship game of the Great American Conference tournament in 2012.

Southwestern is an NCAA Division II team. It moved from the Lone Star Conference to the newly formed league two seasons ago.
