Traveler baseball roundup

The Traveler Majors finished 2-3 in their home festival at Fuller Park, losing a 4-2 decision in the semifinals Sunday to the Oklahoma City Outlaws.

The Outlaws scored twice in the first inning to lead 2-0, then Xavier Lanham doubled in two runs in the top of the fifth to tie the game.

The Outlaws, though, added single runs in the fifth and sixth innings for the win.

Garrett Gaunt took the loss with Junior Obeso finishing up in relief.

Woodward was limited to just four hits in the game.

Team Real Tree eventually won the festival, defeating the Outlaws 9-1 in the championship game.

On Saturday, the Travelers lost 7-0 to Real Tree, then defeated the Southwest Shockers 12-4 with Easton Palmer and Bryson Lierle each driving in three runs and Dalton Gore two. Gaunt, Grant Schamburg, Lierle and Jason Nichols all scored two runs.

Schamburg allowed four hits to get the win.

The Majors, 9-3 on the year, have a full week ahead with a doubleheader in Wichita against the Wichita Sluggers on Tuesday and a tournament in Lawton beginning Thursday.

Games in Wichita begin at 3 p.m. at Bishop Carroll High School.

In the Jim Walton-Bragging Rights Tournament in Lawton, the Majors will play the Southwest Shockers Black at 3 p.m. on Thursday and the Southwest Shockers Red at 8 p.m.

On Friday, Woodward faces Sting at 10 a.m. and Ardmore at 5:30 p.m.

Bracket play starts on Saturday.

All games are at Lawton Eisenhower High School.

The Traveler Minors split four games in a weekend tournament at Clinton, leaving them at 5-6 on the season. Woodward defeated Clinton and Anadarko while losing to Weatherford and the Southwest Shockers

The Minors hosted Alva on Monday night and will host the Wichita Sluggers in a 5 p.m. doubleheader Tuesday. They go to Weatherford for a weekend tournament.
