Boomer teams drop openers

Woodward, Okla. — Woodward's basketball teams started off the season with losses to Class 5A Piedmont at Boomer Fieldhouse on Tuesday.

Piedmont's girls, ranked 7th, pulled away from the Boomers in the second half to win 63-37. In the boys game, Piedmont, ranked 14th, won 55-47 over the Boomers, ranked 20th in Class 4A.

Woodward goes to Weatherford on Friday, then will host Alva next Tuesday.
