Woodward, Okla. — Forgan won the battle of unbeatens at Boomer Stadium on Friday and as a result will play for a state football championship next week.

Dalton Lemieux hit Kameron Hall for a 3-yard touchdown pass with 22.9 seconds left as the Bulldogs rallied to beat Cherokee 24-20 in the Class C semifinals. Forgan, 12-0, will face Tipton in the championship. Tipton edged Sharon-Mutual 28-20 in Weatherford on Friday.

The Lemieux to Hall touchdown pass capped a 60-yard, 11-play beat the clock drive by the Bulldogs.

Cherokee had taken a 20-18 lead with 3:54 left on a 58-yard run by sophomore quarterback Tanner Bowman.

The big play in Forgan’s drive was a 37-yard pass from Lemieux to Chandler Bryer on fourth and 10. That moved the ball to the Cherokee 11 and 5 plays later the Bulldogs scored.

Fireworks started early in the back and forth game. Jake Regier took the opening kickoff back 70 yards to the Cherokee 10 and Lemieux scored on the next play.

Cherokee answered on a 20-yard pass from Bowman to Argraves and Bowman’s conversion run made it 8-6.

Forgan regained the lead 12-8 on a 5-yard reverse pass from Hall to Regier.

Cherokee threatened late in the first half, but Bryer intercepted a pass near the goal line.

The Chiefs did go in front in the third period on Bowman’s 60-yard scoring run that made it 14-12.

Forgan came right back and Trevin Lopez capped a 66-yard drive with a 3-yard run for an 18-14 lead.

Cherokee ends its season 12-1.

Sharon-Mutual's bid for a trip to the finals was derailed by top-ranked Tipton at Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

The Trojans had a hand in their own demise as well, though, committing 5 turnovers and 9 penalties.

Josh Torres scored all 4 touchdowns to lead Tipton to a second straight championship game appearance. Tipton also beat Sharon-Mutual in the semifinals a year ago before losing to Shattuck in the championship game.

Cooper Free and Cody Campbell connected on touchdown passes of 12 and 20 yards and Logan Hunter had the Trojans other touchdown on a 5-yard run.

Sharon-Mutual ends its season 11-2.

The Class B championship game will be a rematch of a regular season contest.

Laverne beat Pond Creek-Hunter 36-18 in the last week of the season, and they get to do it all over again 4 weeks later, this time with a gold football on the line.

Laverne advanced with a 48-8 rout of Rejoice Christian in Enid while Pond Creek-Hunter routed Fox 52-0 at Del City in a game that was over by halftime.

Tucker Rolf and Dalton Birch had 2 touchdowns each for Laverne and Trevor Harris, Gage Murphy and Jake Fanning had one.

Laverne led 8-0 after one quarter and broke the game open with 22 points in the second period.

The Tigers rolled up 297 yards on the ground and Rolf completed 8 of 9 passes for 115 yards. Rejoice Christian had 227 yards in offense but didn't score until the 4th period.

Laverne is 13-0. Rejoice ends its season 11-2.

Pond Creek-Hunter blew past previously undefeated Fox with a 33-point first period and went on to end the game early.

Trenton Grimes and Brady Krittenbrink each scored 3 touchdowns for the Panthers, who are 12-1 this season. Fox ends its year at 12-1.

The Panthers dominated in every area, with 354 yards in in offense to just 17 for Fox.
