WHS boys in championship game

Woodward, Okla. — Woodward's boys hammered host Newcastle 60-48 on Friday night to reach the championship game of the Newcastle Tournament.

The Boomers, 11-1, will face Ada. 9-5 in the 8:30 p.m. finals Saturday night. Ada defeated Blanchard in the semifinals.

Woodward last won the Newcastle Tournament in 2011, beating Washington in the finals.

On the girls side, the Boomers nearly pulled off their second big upset in as many nights but ended up dropping a 53-50 game in overtime to Yukon. The Boomers, 3-9, will face Bethel at 4 p.m. Saturday for third place.
