Boomers to visit Alva

Woodward, Okla. — The Boomers continue their month-long road trip tonight (Jan. 21) with games against the Alva Goldbugs.

For the girls, 2-7 on the season, it will be a third consecutive game against a top 5 team as Alva, 13-1, is ranked second in Class 3A.

In the boys game, the Boomers will try and bounce back from their first loss of the season against the Goldbugs. Woodward, 8-1 and ranked 11th in Class 4A, beat Alva in the season opener. The Goldbugs are 10-4 and ranked 16th in Class 3A.

Tip time is 6:30 p.m. for the girls with the boys following.

This is the start of a 4-game week for the Boomer teams as they go to Newcastle for a 3-day tournament on Thursday.

The area schedule tonight includes, Arnett at Laverne, Balko at Moscow, Kan., Vici at Buffalo, Fairview at Blackwell, Fargo-Gage at Sharon-Mutual, Mooreland at Timberlake, Seiling at Hammon, Shattuck at Forgan, Beaver at Turpin and Lomega at Canton.

Start time everywhere is 6;30 p.m.

Most area squads will be in action this weekend in tournaments. Buffalo is a major tournament for area schools.

Other tournaments involving area schools include the Okeene Invitational and the Bi-County Tournament in Elk City.
