Defending champions advance in Oil Center Classic

Woodward, Okla. — The defending champions in both the girls and boys divisions recorded victories on day one of the Oil Center Classic Thursday.

Forgan’s boys and the Shattuck girls posted victories over Waynoka at Boomer Fieldhouse.

Joining Shattuck in the girls semifinals are Beaver, Mooreland and Forgan. On the boys side, Mooreland, Beaver and Shattuck all advanced.

Jake Regier scored 13 points and Kameron Hall 11 in Forgan’s 69-16 win over Waynoka.

The Bulldogs, ranked No. 1 in Class B, will take on Shattuck in the semifinals. The Indians jumped on Turpin early and won 48-34. Beau Srader had 15 points.

Mooreland will face Beaver in the other semifinal.

The Bearcats overcame a sluggish first half and pulled away from Canton after intermission to win 55-37.

Landon Peach paced the Bearcats with 22 points. Chad Miller had a big game for Canton with 20 points.

Beaver recorded a 56-27 win over Sharon-Mutual as Kalen Gabel cored 21 points and Logan Baldwin 17.  Cody Campbell had 20 for the Trojans.

Defending tournament MVP Daniela Galindo poured in 26 points to lead Shattuck past Waynoka, 45-23.

The Indians will take on Forgan, a 40-34 winner over Canton.

In one of the most competitive games of the day, Forgan built an 11-point halftime lead and turned away the Tigers in the second half.

Kenzie Taylor had 18 to pace Forgan. Taylor Bromlow had 20 to lead Canton.

Top-seed Mooreland stayed unbeaten on the season with a 68-21 win over Turpin.

Three players scored in double figures for the Lady Cats. Jennifer Myers led with 18 points, Shanae Roper scored 14 and Kayla Wilson 12.

Reagan Alvarez had 12 points for Turpin.

Beaver opened the day with a 46-37 win over Sharon-Mutual.

The Lady Dusters used a 13-0 run in the first period to take the lead.

Sharon-Mutual got as close as 6 points in the fourth quarter.

Jacinda Balderrama led Beaver with 29 points.
