Former OSU standout to speak at banquet

Woodward, Okla. — CBS Sports broadcaster Doug Gottlieb, the featured speaker at tonight's Classic Bowl Athletic Awards Banquet, will do his national radio show locally today.

Gottlieb will do his radio show from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the K-101 radio studios (the show is not going to be heard on K-101) and the public is invited to drop by and watch or listen for parts of the show.

The show is broadcast in Oklahoma on KNIB-FM, '105.3, The Pro' out of Kingfisher, on weekdays.

A California native, Gottlieb played a season at Notre Dame, then played at Oklahoma State University and was the 1998 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year. He is 10th in all-time assists in the NCAA. As a senior, he helped the Cowboys reach the Elite Eight.

He also played professionally in the United States Baseball League and in Russia, Israel and France.

He worked at ESPN until moving to CBS earlier this year.

The awards banquet is a staple of the Classic Bowl, now in its 25th year.

Basketball award and scholarship winners, announced earlier during the week, will be recognized and various football awards will be announced.

Some of the football awards include East and West Coaches of the Year, Offensive Players of the Year and Defensive Players of the Year. The featured award is the announcement of the winner of the Drew Williams Memorial Scholarship.
