State tourney field set

Woodward, Okla. — Fuller Park will be the host site for the OK Kids Minors (15-under) State Baseball Tournament Tuesday through Saturday.

The host Woodward team will be joined by seven other squads from across the state - Bridge Creek, Poteau, Clinton, Elgin, Pauls Valley, Panama and Weatherford.

Defending state champion in this age bracket is Weatherford.

The Woodward team has compiled a 22-13 record during the summer. Since their isn't a 15-under league in this area, the Travelers played a series of tournaments.

Coach Aaron Sims said Woodward won the Stateline Shootout in Alva and was second in the Red Dirt Tournament in Enid and the Junior Renegade Tournament in Alva.

In addition to Woodward, Sims said there are players from Vici, Buffalo and Mooreland on the squad.

Team members for this tournament include Seth Sims, Dawson Howard, Jackson Underwood, Colton McCracken, Carston Barnett, Victor Parada, Brogan Sears, Luke Vanderwork, Joan Alvarez and Cale Steadman. Brady Bowles in injured and will miss the tourney.

Woodward opens the tournament against Weatherford, a team it lost to 4-3 in a Wood Bat Tournament earlier this year. The Travelers also faced the Pauls Valley team during the year and won that game  7-6.

12:30 - Bridge Creek vs. Poteau

3 p.m. - Clinton vs. Elgin

5:30 p.m. - Pauls Valley vs. Panama

8 p.m. - Weatherford vs. Woodward


Elimination games at 12:30 and 3 p.m.

Winners bracket at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.


Elimination games at 3 p.m., 5:30 p.m.

Winners bracket final, 8 p.m.


Elimination games at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.


Championship game at 1:30 p.m., if needed at 4:30 p.m.
