Garret Collins and Leno Ramirez combined for one-hitter to give the Traveler Majors a split of a doubleheader against the Enid Majors on Tuesday.
Collins worked into the sixth inning and Ramirez got the final 5 outs in a 4-1 Traveler victory. Enid won the opener 10-6.
It was the home opener for the Travelers, who will host a festival starting Friday at Fuller Park.
Collins in his first start of the season allowed just a fourth inning single to Brady Kokojan. The only Enid run was unearned. Over 6.1 innings, Collins struck out 7 and walked 3.
Ramirez was dominant in a 1.2 inning stint, striking out 4 of the 6 hitters he faced for his first save of these season.
Junior Obeso was the losing pitcher.
Trailing 1-0 going into the bottom of the fourth inning, the Travelers got something going with one out.
Korey Floyd was hit by a pitch and Bryson Lierle singled. Matt Martin followed with an RBI single. Collins hit a sacrifice fly to put the Travelers ahead 2-1, then Dustin Cook singled home a run. Thomas Sander also singled in the inning.
Woodward added an insurance run in the sixth when Cook walked and later scored on a passed ball.
Enid used a 3-run fifth inning to break open a tie game and take the opener 10-6.
The game was tied at 5-5 going into the fifth. Enid also added 2 in the sixth for insurance.
Giles Fox started for Woodward and took the loss with Ramirez and Dalton Shalburg throwing in relief.
A pair of bases loaded walks and a 3-run double keyed a 5-run second inning for Enid
The Travelers answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning. Floyd's double got things started and later in the inning Francisco Alvarez had a 2-run single. Cook also drove in a run.
In the third, Lierle reached on a fielders' choice and scored on Martin's sacrifice fly to the game.
That was the final threat for the Travelers until the sixth inning when Fox doubled and Alvarez singled.
Enid pieced together 4 hits to score its 3 runs in the fifth inning, then added its final 2 runs on one hit in the sixth.
The Travelers are 4-3 on the season.
